The 2021 STORM season starts this week! Thank you all for registering and joining to play this season. I am confident this season will be the best yet and the girls (and parents) will have a blast!
Some really great news is that Lexi Ignac, Storm Director, was able to secure 3 dedicated, young and experienced coaches, along with several volunteers that will help us create the best lacrosse experience in SW FLorida! I cannot wait for you all to meet your coaches and am certain you will learn to love them all.
BEFORE I GET TO SEASON DETAILS WE ARE IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS TO BE TEAM MANAGERS AND HELP THE COACHES COMMUNICATE TO THEIR RESPECTIVE TEAMS AS WELL AS HELP ORGANIZE ANY EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE SEASON. PLEASE LET US KNOW IF INTERESTED.
Now lets get to the details of the season:
Practices:
We have had some confusion regarding practice plans, which was a result of us trying to get enough girls for a team @ Three Oaks and a team @ Wa-Ke Hatchee. Unfortunately that is not yet possible, but next year, I expect it to happen. By the way, if you go to our site swflstormlacrosse.com you can select your team and see the season schedule and other team info. Currently, we only have Storm Lightning (Elementart School) and the Hurricanes (Middle School). We will be creating the Elementary School Thunder after the first few practice
Practice schedule:
Elementary School (Lightning):
Tuesday & Thursday at Three Oaks Park in Estero from 5:30 to 6:45. Please arrive early and be ready to go AT 5:30
Middle School (Hurricanes):
Practice Monday nights at Wa-ke Hatchee Park from 6:00 - 7:30pm and Thursday nights at Three Oaks Park from 6:00 - 7:30pm. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early and be ready to go at the start.
Games:
Scheduled for Sunday afternoons. We will play 2 dates at Three Oaks, 2 dates at Naples High and 2 dates at Community School of Naples. We are working on some additional games with teams from outside the area.
ES girls will play 2-30 minute games during each scheduled game day and the MS team will play either 1 or 2 - 1 hour games on their game days.
Housekeeping topics:
Equipment Mandatory to practice:
WATER, Cleats, mouthpiece, goggles or helmet, stick and great , fun attitudes! Water is not really mandatory, but highly encouraged
**I would advise to buy 2 mouthpieces and keep 2nd one in a bag just in case one gets lost. Please be sure they are molded prior to sue.
Parents: 3 asks
1) We ask that you encourage the kids in a positive manner and never coach the girls during a game. A player can get rattled during a game if being coached from too many people.
2) We ask to instill the 24 hour rule - If you have an issue with a coach or situation, please wait 24 hours before discussing and reach out to one of the Board members, or Lexi directly to discuss. The coaches are volunteers and working hard to make this the best lacrosse experience. We want them to grow with us and as a Board we will manage through the issues with you.
3) Did I mention please provide plenty of water! It's hot down here...or yeah, maybe some bug spray when at Wa-ke Hatchee Park!
Thank you for listenting, see you at the fields!
